This pair of ceramic vases, signed Ars Artigiana Deruta, draws on the ancient form of the amphora, reinterpreted through a neoclassical decorative language: lateral handles, cameo-style medallion profiles, stylized motifs, and gilt accents.
Deruta, in Umbria, is one of Italy’s historic centers of ceramic production. Its activity is documented as early as the 13th century, with a peak during the Renaissance.
