NORTHERN SHORES – watercolours

This pair of watercolours by French artist R. Burlet celebrates the maritime heritage of both sides of the English Channel.

One painting depicts the picturesque harbour of Brixham, in Devon, England, while the other portrays the historic French lightship Le Dyck, once stationed off the coast of Dunkirk before later becoming the Sandettie. Together, they evoke a shared nautical history shaped by fishing communities, navigation and the ever-changing light of the sea.

Executed with delicate washes and a restrained palette, the two works convey a quiet sense of nostalgia, inviting the viewer to pause before landscapes where time seems to move at the rhythm of the tides.

Carefully selected by Atelier Massimo, these watercolours are offered individually or as a pair, preserving the dialogue between two historic ports linked by the waters of the Channel.
