DUTCH VILLAGE – 19th Century

A small oil painting on wood depicting a cobbled street animated by townspeople, with steep gables and a clock tower rising in the distance. Terracotta roofs, soft greens and touches of red bring warmth to the scene.

Its intimate atmosphere recalls the quiet charm of Dutch townscapes and the everyday life depicted in Vermeer’s The Little Street.

Presented in a broad, moulded gilt frame with a metal plaque inscribed “École hollandaise”. The precise location remains unidentified.

An intimate piece to hang beside a favourite armchair or incorporate into a collection of paintings.
